How to Use This Fertility Calculator

Enter the first day of your most recent period and your typical cycle length. The calculator will estimate your ovulation date and highlight your 6-day fertile window. For the best chances of conception, plan intercourse during the 2–3 days leading up to and including ovulation day.

Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, while the released egg remains viable for approximately 12–24 hours. This means that having intercourse in the days before ovulation can be just as effective — if not more so — than on ovulation day itself.

Tips for Conception Planning

  • Timing is key — aim for intercourse every 1–2 days during your fertile window.
  • Track multiple signs — combine this calculator with ovulation predictor kits, basal body temperature charting, or cervical mucus monitoring for more accuracy.
  • Stay healthy — a balanced diet, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol can support fertility for both partners.
  • Be patient — even with perfect timing, the chance of conception per cycle is about 20–30% for healthy couples under 35.

When to See a Doctor

If you are under 35 and have been trying to conceive for 12 months without success, or over 35 and have been trying for 6 months, consider consulting a fertility specialist. Irregular cycles, known medical conditions, or a history of pelvic surgery are also reasons to seek medical advice sooner.
